Protests in the United States against American and British attacks on the Houthis

Several anti-war activists protested in the United States on Thursday in response to American and British strikes on Houthi military targets in Yemen. Demonstrations were held in New York City's Times Square and outside the White House. British news agency Reuters reported that there is growing concern that the attack on Houthi military assets could further escalate the ongoing conflict in the region.

In retaliation for Houthi attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea, the United States and the United Kingdom launched strikes on Houthi military targets in strategic waters in the Arabian Sea on Thursday. Anti-war protesters in Times Square advocate for de-escalation in the region. Meanwhile, protesters near the White House displayed a Palestinian flag, emphasizing their opposition to the ongoing conflict in Yemen and demanding an end to the airstrikes.

Attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea were announced on October 7 by Houthi rebels in Yemen. In response to the attack, the United States and the United Kingdom introduced a resolution calling for an arms embargo in the United Nations Security Council. Houthi rebels. However, the proposal did not include a ban on targeting commercial ships, which prompted the US and UK to launch strikes on Houthi military targets in Yemen.

The attacks in Yemen are expected to exacerbate the long-running conflict in the region. Iran-backed Houthi rebels control most of Yemen. They have targeted commercial ships in the Red Sea using drones and missiles. As a result, ships are forced to change their routes, taking longer and more expensive routes.

On October 7, the Israeli military responded to attacks by Palestinian armed groups in southern Israel. According to Israeli authorities, Israeli retaliation led to renewed hostilities, resulting in more than 1,200 casualties.

Hamas's retaliatory actions in Gaza triggered attacks on Israel. More than 23,000 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 2.3 million residents displaced in the ongoing conflict, according to Gaza's health ministry.
