In a statement at the Davos World Economic Forum on Wednesday, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed deep concern about the ongoing violence in Gaza, emphasizing the alarming impact on women and children during the bombing.

Guterres stressed that the international community is united in condemnation when women and children are being killed, homes destroyed and people forcibly displaced in Gaza. Speaking at the World Economic Forum, he said, "The world watches as indiscriminate bombings lead to civilian casualties, particularly women and children. Homes are being forcibly evacuated, and their access to humanitarian aid is limited."

Furthermore, Guterres renewed his call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, highlighting the blatant disregard for international law by the warring parties in the conflict. He emphasized that this neglect exacerbates human suffering and that the international community has made minimal progress in ending these violations.

"The world stands together as indiscriminate bombings displace innocent lives, particularly women and children, from their homes and deny access to humanitarian assistance," said the UN Secretary-General.

Guterres concluded by advocating an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza and reiterating his commitment to push for a two-state solution between Israelis and Palestinians to bring lasting peace to the region.
